Dr. Ros-Escalante grew up in Puerto Rico, where he completed undergraduate and graduate studies. He matched at his top program selections for an internship at a Mount Sinai School of Medicine affiliated community hospital in New York City, and for residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He applied and was accepted in the United States Armed Forces Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP), and was commissioned with the rank of Captain in the United States (US) Army Medical Corps while completing his civilian neurology training.
After residency training, he was promoted to the rank of Major and went into active duty service in the US Army as a Staff Neurologist at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He had the privilege of serving as Chief of Neurology on his last year of active duty service and received multiple military accolades during his leadership period.
He returned to civilian life after concluding his incurred HPSP commitment with an “honorable discharge”, and successfully completed a Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then decided to move to the Sunshine State, in the company of his wife and children, to practice medicine enjoying all the things this beautiful place has to offer.
Dr. Ros-Escalante has achieved certification in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
He has privileges at the AdventHealth System with his main campus being Altamonte. Dr. Ros-Escalante is part of the AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute and functions as Stroke Director at AdventHealth Altamonte Campus. He is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
